Nightmare

He lays there limply on his back quivering. His body shakes and jumps as waves of chills course through him. Sweat pours from his skin and a pool slowly forms beneath him.

Ghastly in appearance he lays there unable to move voluntarily. Brief incoherent messages pass through his lips. Arms and feet flail through the air in vain. His face cringes as though he is in unimaginable pain.

Suddenly he slowly opens his eyes, breathes deeply of the surrounding air, and gains his courage from within to sit up. It was but a dream that held him captive in his own body and bedroom. Perhaps nightmare would be a term better used for such things.

He catches his breath and lays back down in his bed. Thoughts of things he holds dear race through his head as it touches his pillow. He grins briefly as he realizes that the sooner he sleeps, then the sooner shall he see his love again. With this thought filling his head, his body at length does find slumber again.
