Shallow Love

If you love someone's heart,
The rest is but a wrapper.
Love from within at the start,
And the outside will not matter.

You cannot truly love with your eyes
No matter how hard you try.
Love must come from within,
For anything else is a sin.

If you love with your eyes at first,
Nothing will quench true love's thirst.
Instead, I say, love them for their heart,
And true love may blossom from the start.

If one's relationship were a boat
And true love was the water,
The boat atop shallow seas
Will run aground and falter.

But if the love is true and deep,
Your relationship will surely keep.
Shallow love stems from shallow thinking,
Change course now or keep on skinking.
