A Fool's Dream

She crossed his path like so many do each and every day. He did not give it much thought at first, yet ever day the two became closer and closer. It was as if fate itself had destined the two to be together.

Somewhere along the way, a veil lifted from his eyes and he began to see her in a different light. A strange realization indeed that he did try to ignore at first thinking himself a fool. He tried to distract himself from such foolish thinking.

Yet each day his heart did grow fonder and fonder for her. She had come to mean so very much to him as a friend. The thought of losing her friendship was unbearable to him. Somehow he thought deep within his mind that their relationship was destined for something more and that friendship was but a mere stepping-stone.

He buried these thoughts within himself or so he tried, but apparently they were buried shallowly. He made a conscience decision to not act on his impulses; for a kiss between the two would surely seal his fate. If she did not feel the same, then he would have lost the most amazing person in his life, or at least made things stranger between them.

Talking with her does little more than compel him to wait for when the time is right, yet part of him still feels foolish in thinking such a thing. The fact that she too had such ideas only reinforces his wanting of her. The only time his life feels harmonious anymore is with her by his side.

He tries desperately to make sense of his feelings but there is no use. Lust would be an easy impulse to dispose of quickly, but a feeling such as this surmounts any other. It takes hold of his entire person and he quickly begins to feel very confused about things. One’s mind can be changed easily if one feels it necessary, but to change one’s heart is impossible.

He tries to look at other women, but they have lost all their appeal. They all seem as if they are but shallow and devoid of depth. Their lack of intelligence only confounds things further. A head filled with rocks simply will not cut the muster.

He no longer knows how to proceed. The only thing he is sure of anymore is of how he feels for her. Each time he sees her his head is filled with thoughts of warm embraces and an endless array of kisses. He loves her for who she is despite all the differences they may have.

His heart seems dead-set on her and his mind only reinforces such thoughts. Since both seem to be in such agreement, he has no choice but to follow his heart and mind. He knows he could live the rest of his life without her, but he just doesn’t want to do so… He knows all too well that every woman from this point on would just not measure up.

He is not sure how they months ahead will unfold. He keeps thinking to himself that this love he feels manifested itself for some reason. He knows that the only thing that will put out a flame such as this is a violent stomping out for there is no lack of love to fuel the fire.
